“Minazuki” in the rainy season

June is the month of changing clothes, and the clothes of the people who go to the city are getting cooler.

On the other hand, because of the rainy season, I heard the news about the rainy season.

It will rain a lot until the end of the rainy season, but I would like to spend this time with some ingenuity, such as looking at the hydrangea that gets wet in the rain and the umbrellas of various colors.

June is the rainy season and looks good in the rain, but it is called “minazuki” in the calendar.

Mysteriously, when I looked up the etymology and origin, I found that there were various theories.

Since “minazuki” is June of the lunar calendar, the theory that it came from the month when the rainy season is over and the water “runs out” in earnest, and “no” in minazuki is used to mean “no”. The theory that it means “the moon”.

No matter which of the various theories I hear, I’m quite convinced, but I’m deeply moved when I think that the predecessors changed what they learned from observation into beautiful Japanese and felt the season.
