【Sumo May Venue】Spectator Report

From this month, ePartners Co., Ltd. became an official sponsor of the Japan Sumo Association.
So I immediately went to watch the game, Ryogoku Kokugikan! The seventh day of the sumo tournament was packed to the brim!

May 20th was a Saturday, so I went out slowly from early afternoon.
At the knee of the Kokugikan, in JR Ryogoku Station, the winning plaque of successive famous yokozuna is displayed, and Hakuho Seki,
The forehead of that big star of Showa, Chiyo no Fujiseki…
There were also bills. It’s big!!

Kokugikan is right in front of Ryogoku Station.
If you think there is a crowd on the way to the main entrance, you are “waiting” at the wrestler’s private entrance.
I was a fan.
The main sumo tournament starts around 8:30 in the morning, and the wrestling is carried out in order from the lowest number.
It was almost half past 14 when we passed, so it was about time for the famous sumo wrestlers to show up.
I don’t know.
As I walked through the crowd to the entrance gate, I saw large old men cramped in a narrow booth, sprinkling affection at visitors…
To my surprise, the masters were doing “Mogiri” as a fan service!
It was canceled due to the new corona epidemic, but it has been revived for the first time in three years from the beginning of this year.
It seems that there were some people who were quite famous, but I didn’t understand them because I didn’t study them. I am sorry.
Oh, the entrance is not “booth”, but “kido”. Excuse me again.

I was surprised to see that there were surprisingly many young customers.
In the square next door were a young mother and elementary school twin girls, with the names and caricatures of the sumo wrestlers on them.
I took out banner towels one after another and waved them.
There seemed to be a lot of “recommended” wrestlers (laughs).
Efforts are carried out intermittently from morning to evening, so it is not necessary to see everything.
The number of customers began to increase around 3:30 p.m., when the makuuchi wrestlers appeared, but even after entering the shop, many people often left their seats to shop at the concession stand or take a break.
However, you have to be careful not to miss the big number one of the wrestlers you are looking for.
The yokozuna entering the arena (around 4 p.m.) was also worth seeing.
This time, it was a square seat directly above the west flower path, so I was on the other side of the TV broadcast screen, and I was in the back.
“Yoi Show!” shouts flying, and it is crowded.

Now, after the break time, the top sumo wrestlers finally started their efforts.
First of all, attention is paid to the shomonkey (the third frontal one).
I had heard that he was quick, but he quickly stumped to the left and blew away the opponent who rushed in.
The rule was “Knock it in.” In between, only 3 seconds.

The next effort, the battle between Aflame and Suifuji, once the military rank went up to Suifuji, but there was a controversy, and as a result of deliberations that were longer than the efforts,
Assuming that Aflame’s foot came out and Suifuji arrived at almost the same time, I decided to take it back.
In the photo, you can’t see it because it’s hidden by people, but it’s subtle.
The best retake was “Extrusion” and Suifuji won.

In the match between Masayo (Koyui) and Mount Kirimayama (Sekiwaki), Masayo pushed overwhelmingly and fell forward, but his opponent
Push out and win!
The rule is “lean in”.
・・・The difference between “extrusion” and “leaning off” is Wakarimasen (laughs)

And the best of today’s closing! Yokozuna Terunofuji is here!
His opponent is Mt. Kinpu, the fifth maegashira.
What surprised me was the length of time it took for the two of them to actually start working on the project after they stepped into the arena.
We had to remeasure the timing many times, but in the meantime, we had dozens of sponsor sweepstakes flags (70,000 yen each) … no, dozens of them!
As expected, the number of yokozuna initiatives is different. Whoever wins will take it all!
Advertising is prohibited on NHK’s TV broadcasts, so this scene does not appear in Matomo (laughs).
I heard that the time limit for the partition in the makuuchi is 4 minutes, but it seems that it was longer…
However, I don’t really know where to measure 4 minutes. Oh no.
Now, the time limit has been completed, and the initiative has begun!
From here, in a literal blink of an eye, the yokozuna kept his opponent at bay at all, and in 3~4 seconds, he threw it wildly and finished.
After all it is strong.

In place of the yokozuna pulling up in peace, the winner’s dance and archery ceremony were performed in the dohyo, and the seventh day of May came to a close.
It was my first time to watch a sumo wrestling match, but I was just overwhelmed by the power of the real thing.
