Asian record: Philippines Obiena wins bronze medal!

The World Athletics Championships are held in Oregon, USA from July 16 to July 25.
In the final of the men’s pole vault, Ernest John Obiena (26) of the Philippines said,
He set a new Asian record of 5.94 meters and won the bronze medal.

This is even more than the 5.93 metres he set at the September 2021 Games.
He became the first Filipino to win a medal in this event.
Congratulations to Obiena on winning the bronze medal and setting a new record!

■Ernest John Obiena Biography
In Tondo, Manila, on November 17, 1995,
He was born to track and field athletes Emerson Obiena and Janet Uy.
He is of Chinese descent.
He received his secondary education at Chiang Kai-shek College and then at the University of Sainte-Thomas (Manila).
